The Gripsholm Castle at Midnight

I’m overwhelmed by the response on my last upload, picturing The Stockholm Town hall. It’s a picture that’s been on my list of captures I wanted to make for a long time. Last summer the conditions where perfect so I was lucky to pull it off. I’m very proud of that HDR and consider it to be one of my best. Here is another one that I had on my list for a long time, The Gripsholm Castle at night. This reflection requires perfect wind still and one night in July last year it happened and I jumped into my car and drove to Mariefred and found this magnificent view. The 5 exposures are captured around midnight. The longest exposure (+4) is 16 minutes so the mosquitoes where quite happy to feast on me while I was waiting. But the ducks where quite unhappy with me because I occupied the pier there they had their night rest. They where angrily swimming around in the foreground but because of the longtime exposures they did not spoil my HDR.

Horse & Carriage

Wana take a tour with horse and carriage around Gamla Stan, the Old Town, in Stockholm? These two fellows are just waiting for a job. A nice summer scene captured at Slottskajen, in front of the Royal Castle, in Stockholm last Saturday.

1956 Cadillac Fleetwood

New day, new car! Today We will have a look on one of the real classic American automobile brands, Cadillac. Cadillac was founded by the American engineer and entrepreneur Henry Martyn Leland in 1903. He named the company after the French explorer and founder of Detroit, Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac. The first Cadillac, Model A Runabout, was practically identical with the 1903 Ford Model A. Henry Ford had been involved with the designing of this model before founding the Henry Ford Company. In 1909 Cadillac was bought by General Motors who turned Cadillac in to a luxury brand. Fleetwood was designated as the flagship model when it was first introduced and continued in that position for a number of decades, it was manufactured between 1947 and 1996.

This green beauty from 1956 made a trip to Mariefred on Ångans dag 2011 and posed for the visitors and my camera.

Midsummer eve is probably the most popular holiday in Sweden. It’s celebrated at the hight of the summer when the days is as longest and the night is as shortest. The midsummer pole is decorated with leafs, flowers ans Swedish flags, then it’s erected and traditional dances are danced around it. according to tradition you should collect seven types of flowers and put them under your pillow before you go to sleep. Your beloved will come to you in your sleep, if you’re not already married the person you will marry in the future is the one you will meet in your dream.

This is a HDR-picture from the midsummer celebration at Sundbyholms slott, north of Eskilstuna.
