The Pulpit in the Church of Hedvig Eleonora

07 Aug

I said in yesterday’s post that Hedvig Eleonora is one of my absolute favorite churches in Stockholm. This is mainly because of its sparse but very stylish interior decoration. I also think that the colours, green, purple and gold harmonise very well together.

On the HDR-pictures below you can see the pulpit which is designed by Jean Eric Rehn in classical style and was consecrated on the Christmas day 1784. Among those who have preached from this pulpit you may notice Erik Bergman. Erik served as minister at the Church of Hedvig Eleonora between 1934 to 1964. However he’s probably not remembered mostly for his services at the church but for the fact that he’s the father of Ingmar Bergman.
